About Juliette

HAY!

Please note: although the subject matter of this blog is serious, my writing about those subjects rarely is! I use humor, especially dry, sarcastic, and stupid humor, to cope.  I'm obnoxious at times..you've been warned.

Let's get down ta business! Starting on a serious note, I have the blessing and curse known as Attention Deficit Disorder. The amount of creativity this condition grants to me is phenomenal.  When I am up, I'm way UP and, my accomplishments are pretty damn awesome and I am capable of more than I thought possible.  Inevitably, the depression, brain fog, disorganized thinking, anxiety, and all that other fun stuff comes back and I crash.  Typically, the damage associated with the crash is pretty bad.  Most of the plans, hopes, and dreams I make when I am feeling "up" are typically discarded when the depression kicks in. In years passed, the damage was much worse. I've learned more about myself and my condition, and I am better able to manage symptoms, making the crashes not quite as painful as they once were. As of the beginning of 2019, I am actively working on managing my ADD symptoms and increasing my coping skills.

On to something lighter...I'm married to the 1980's. My love for the decade is matched only by my love for the dark and macabre. And Morten Harket.  He is my eye-cocaine.  Annnyway, why the 80's? I was born smack dab in the middle of that glorious decade.  My three sisters were in their teens when I came along and I was thrown head-first into 1980's pop culture from the day I came home from the hospital. The music, the movies, the fashion, the bright colors and designs, the television, the trends...all of it invokes a deep sense of warmth and home.

Like my passion for the 80's, my fascination and love for all things weird, dark, and scary dates back to my childhood. The shadier side of life has appealed to me for as long as I can remember.  As a young child, I would stay up to watch Tales from the Darkside with my older sister whenever I was allowed and I relished every moment.  The Addams Family was my first favorite film.  I preferred horror stories over fairy tales. My fascination doesn't end there, though, much to the chagrin of my Christian mother.  I have had a lifelong draw to the occult, the bizarre, and the supernatural.  This is another topic I'll delve into later on.

I am engaged to a wonderful man. Before meeting him, soul mate was not a term I took seriously. They didn't exist outside the realm of melodramatic romantics. Our meeting changed my view entirely.  I belong with him and he with me. ❤

I'm not even gonna front...I'm a fan-girl for a multitude of television shows, books, and movies! A few of my fandoms include Twin Peaks, Arrested Development, Stranger Things, Grange Hill, Seinfeld, classic British sitcoms, The Office (US version), John Hughes' films, The Exorcist, The Sopranos, Square Pegs, A Christmas Story, X-Files, Hunger Games, The Goldbergs, Tron, Carrie, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, exploitation films, grindhouse, movies about demonic possession....the list goes on. Basically I could spend my life in front of a television or with my head stuck in a book and be perfectly happy. 👍

Other loves: animals, the Moon, tattoos, writing, music, color, history, philosophy, Grumpy Cat, BOBs (the shoes. They're so damn comfortable. And cute.), hand-lettering, and some other stuff....
